Prof. Richard Rosenquist Brandell MD, PhD

Professor of Clinical Genetics, Karolinska Institutet & Senior Physician, Karolinska University Hospital; Director, Genomic Medicine Sweden (GMS).

Richard Rosenquist Brandell is Professor of Clinical Genetics at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Karolinska Institutet, and Senior Physician in Clinical Genetics at Karolinska University Hospital. Since 2017, he has served as Director of Genomic Medicine Sweden, a national infrastructure implementing precision diagnostics and precision medicine across Swedish healthcare. He also co-chairs the Precision Omics Initiative Sweden (PROMISE) and is a member of the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet.

With more than 25 years of translational research in lymphoid malignancies, particularly chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), Prof. Rosenquist has been at the forefront of applying next-generation sequencing technologies to redefine prognosis, risk stratification and clinical decision-making in hematology. He has led the national adoption of clinical whole-genome and transcriptome sequencing (WGTS) for acute leukemias in Sweden.
